Michelle has a passion and love for figure skating. She has been skating for over 25 years and coaching, both on and off the ice, for 16 years. At the age of 18, Michelle made the decision to pursue competitive skating, and began training at the Richmond Training Centre with coaches Robert Burk and Danielle Rose. In her third competitive season with RTC, Michelle accomplished her life-long goal of competing at the Canadian National Championships, at the age of 22. Over the course of her skating career, Michelle has proudly represented Canada at international competitions. Most notably, she competed at the 2018 ISU Four Continent Championships, in Taipei City. Michelle consistently placed among the top women’s skaters at the Canadian National Championships from 2015-2022, and in her final competitive season, she reached a career high and placed 4th.
In 2022, Michelle transitioned to professional show skating and competes in the Masters Elite Adult division.
Throughout her competitive figure skating career, Michelle has worked as a support coach and choreographer to a wide range of athletes, including beginners, competitive skaters, and adults. Currently, Michelle instructs the off-ice programming at RTC on Monday nights.
In addition to coaching and skating, Michelle is pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Toronto, with her research in sport psychology. She is interested in understanding athlete perspectives and enhancing the sport of figure skating for its continual advancement.
