RTC has always been home to Ken as he was a skater at RTC during its inception in 2000 and has been coaching at RTC since 2003. Ken is NCCP National Coach certified and coaches students of all levels on the STAR & Podium Pathways including Provincial Champions & National Competitors. Over his career, Ken has coached many successful skaters including World Medallist, Fumie Suguri, Canadian Champion, Nam Nguyen and Canadian Junior and Senior Medallist, Fiona Bombardier.
In his own skating days, Ken had a very successful competitive career. Ken is the 2003 Junior Men’s Champion of Canada and went on represent Canada at the 2003 ISU Junior World Championships. He also placed in the top 10 at the Senior Canadian Championships four times. Ken represented Canada Internationally at the Junior and Senior level between 2001-2006. Ken competed at ISU Junior Grand Prix events in Sweden, France, USA, Hungary, Mexico & Japan, taking home medals at two of those events. Ken also took home the Gold medal for Canada at the 2006 Merano International Cup in Italy as a senior.
Ken is always looking for opportunities to continue his education and increase his experience as a coach. He has facilitated seminars across Canada and has been involved with several Provincial & National programs including being selected as the Male Team Coach for Ontario Winter Games, being selected for Skate Canada’s Coach Mentorship Program and the International Coach Apprenticeship Program. In 2023,
Ken received the Richmond Hill Sports Award for Coaching after guiding Fiona Bombardier to a Bronze Medal at the Canadian National Championships. Ken specializes in Athlete Management, Jump Technique & Skating Skills. He can be contacted at director@richmondtc.com.
